The Mysteries of God

1 Corinthians 4:1-2

First Things First- Open your time in prayer.

Ice Breaker Activity: Share with the group a time when you received excellent service. Where were you, what was the nature of the service, and what made it special? Is excellent service more or less frequent now than in days past & why might that be?

Read aloud 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 from multiple translations. Work together to come up with a good paraphrase for the verses.

Compile a list of virtuous qualities of true servants of Christ. See Matthew 25:21 & 23 as well as other correlating verses. Discuss the importance of living in light of these virtues.

A steward is a manager who works for an owner. Compile a list of virtuous qualities of true stewards of the mysteries of God. Discuss the importance of applying these virtues and how best to do it.

Paul opens this chapter with the statement “This is how one should regard us...” (ESV). Share in the group the idea of reputation, regard, and how one wants to be known. What can we do to be known as servants of Christ and what can we do to preserve the good name of others?
